How To Fix Error 500 on WordPress [Case Study]

Are you experiencing an error 500 on your WordPress Blog?

If yes then
Let's answer this questions.

What's an error 500 in WordPress?
What's the possible way it can occur?

The error message that you get when you try to load a page from your WordPress site it is called an internal server error.

The error is introduced when you have a wrongly coded plugin, theme, add-on installed on your WordPress site.

The error occurs every time you try to add new post or page or even manage your site after a theme or plugin is installed.

It happened to me.
Let's come again in a list format.

Here is the list of things that can course your site to display the error 500.

1. installation of wrongly coded plugin or plugins that do not match with your theme.

2. The theme has a conflict with one of the plugins on your site.

3. It could be from your hosting server in rare cases.

But I have no issue with my hosting so far. But 1 and 2  happened to me so I thought I should get it fixed.

When it happened, I was so downed but as a web developer, it was mandatory to find the error and fix it my self.

What Did I do Next to make The Add New Post and Pages Work fine Without the Errors?

The first time it happened I knew it was a plugin I had installed earlier to add some features to my site caused the error.

Here is what I did.

I quickly asked on my Facebook wall, if someone had encountered the same problem that I just installed a plugin and my site became inaccessible from the dashboard or post page.

Here is the suggestion that worked.

Login to your Cpanel and rename the plugin you installed.
I was pretty lost.

Rename or delete any plugin by following the  blue arrow on the screen below

Rename or delete any plugin by following the blue arrow on the screen below
Cpanel File Manager

Here is another

Login to your Cpanel and then click on public_ select content then plugins from there locate the plugin and rename the file.

If you don't remember the name, then rename the plugins and check your site if is loading.

The same thing applies to themes.
Login the Cpanel then rename the theme.
go and reload the site

Rename or delete any Theme by following the red arrow on the screen above
Cpanel File Manager

Rename or delete any Theme by following the  red arrow on the screen above

And it worked.

If the first option doesn't fix the problem here is another suggestion.

Follow this suggestion

This was the second time it occurred.
This time I was able to access my dashboard but unable to Add new Post or page.

Here is what I did.

I switched my theme completely to a default WordPress theme.
It was not solved, so I went back and change the theme to the previous one I was using.

Here is what I did next

I disabled all the plugins
and install them one by one until I was able to spot the plugin.
Mine was the notification bar plugin.

That was how I got access to adding new post and pages.
If by any chance you are unable to fix the problem.

Then it should be right from the hosting company.

 Don't panic.

What you need to do at this time is to raise a support ticket contained with the error you are facing and the exact time it occurred.

That way you will get your problem solved.

TIP: Avoid installing nulled themes and plugins. Always review every theme before installation.
I hope it works for you because number 1 and 2 worked for my indifferent occasions.

Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?

A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my
blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your theme.

Thank you
